ISLAND IŽ
|
|
Island Iž (18km2, app.770 inhabitants) is situated in northern Dalmatia, between
Dugi otok and
Ugljan, 14 nautical miles away from
Zadar.
Island Iž has two tourist villages; Veli Iž and Mali Iž.
Veli Iž and Mali Iž are beatiful little villages, surrounded by figtrees, olivegardens and vegetable plantations.
Beside sailing and fishing, fruit and olive gardens, pottery is one of the most charished trades.
Near these two island villages, you will find many bays for swimming (sandbeaches for children).

While you are on the island, you will have the option of going on a local excursion or just go fishing with the natives.
Boatsexcursions are organized to local islands or to national park KORNATI.
With a post office, minimarkets and some restaurants, there is also a small modern built marina.
You will also find four clay tenniscourts, tabletennis, motorboats and rowboats, rent a bike and beach volleyball.
Iž is reached from Zadar
daily by regular boatsline and up to 5 times a week by ferryboat.
The national museum, Iž festival, local «King» festival and some other cultural happenings is what attracts many visitors to Iž.
